Lena’s Skin Care Routine

Medical grade skincare is an investment and must be used consistently for best results. The concentration of active ingredients in medical-grade skincare is generally higher compared to the over-the-counter products, and the ingredients have been clinically tested to work. Medical grade skin care companies use highly stabilized ingredients that last longer and take longer to degrade as well as specifically designed mechanisms for absorption to enhance the delivery of active ingredients to deeper skin layers.

Once you make the commitment to start using medical-grade skincare, it takes about 12 weeks to see improvements in your skin. Many of the medical-grade skin care products can be gradually incorporated into your current routine, even when using other skincare products. A good rule of thumb when applying products is to apply from the lightest to heaviest consistency: serums and gels first, followed by lotions, and then creams.

I have discovered some of my favorites after some trial and error. In the morning, I wash my face with SkinBetter Science Oxygen Infusion Wash containing slow releasing alpha hydroxy acids and an infusion of oxygen using my Clarisonic device. In the winter months when my skin is drier & needs extra nourishment, I use creamy Alastin Ultra Calm Cleansing cream. I then apply a rice grain size (for both eyes) of SkinBetter Science InterFuse Eye Treatment Cream rich in peptides, caffeine, and vitamin C. While my skin is slightly damp, I apply a few drops of Alastin Hyaluronic Acid Immerse Serum for a hydration/radiance boost. SkinBetter Science Alto Defense Serum follows next for daily antioxidant and UVB-induced free radical protection. I then moisturize with SkinBetter Science Trio Rebalancing Moisture Treatment for healthy skin barrier support. I use SkinBetter Science skin firming Techno Neck Perfecting Cream for more delicate skin on my neck and decollete. The last step is SPF! I love Alastin SilkShield All Mineral Sunscreen for sheer coverage and SunBetter Tone Smart SPF 75 sunscreen lotion for coverage with a hint of tint. I usually keep SPF in my purse and car to reapply SPF every 2 hours throughout the day. When traveling, I really love the convenience of SunBetter Sheer SPF 56 sunscreen stick and SunBetter Advanced Mineral Protection Tone Smart SPF 68 Sunscreen Compact.

In the evening, I always take off makeup and wash my face using SkinBetter Oxygen Infusion Wash (or Alastin Ultra Calm Cleansing Cream in winter months) using my Clarisonic device. I then apply a rice grain size (for both eyes) of rich and silky EyeMax AlphaRet Overnight Cream designed to treat the creepiness, darkness & wrinkles around the eyes. SkinBetter Science Even Tone Correcting Serum follows as a hydroquinone alternative for treating hyperpigmentation and skin discoloration/dull complexion. I then apply Alastin Renewal Retinol 0.25 to treat fine lines/wrinkles as well as to improve skin texture and tone. If my skin is feeling sensitive, I use Retinol every other night or twice a week instead of every day. I follow with SkinBetter Science Trio Rebalancing Moisture Treatment for my face and SkinBetter Science Techno Neck Perfecting Cream for my neck and decollete.
My skincare routine takes me about 5 minutes to complete every morning and night and is an important part of my self-care. I invite you to give it a try!
